The 12mm refers to the thickness of the oil gear. The larger the gear, the more volume of oil per revolution. Our 12mm pump outflows and outperforms any 11mm or 10mm pump on the market. A gear pump acts as positive displacement pump - forcing oil into the engine and providing optimal oil pressure. The more oil you can flow, the higher the oil pressure at the bearings. There is a common issue with the JDM 12mm pump in that the seat pressure for the relief plunger is too low and oil can bypass through the relief and back into the sump. P2P adds a shim to increase seat pressure, and reduce the oil leakage past the relief plunger. 

Porting the oil pump adds to the pump efficiency. This reduces Cv thus increasing oil pressure. We port and polish the critical areas of the pump where oil can be turbulent. This is primarily done on the discharge side of the pump.

Every oil pump comes packed with assembly lube. This is important for a fresh build in that you will build oil pressure quickly when trying to start a new engine.
